Born on 21 October 1992 in the United States, little is known about his childhood and family. He graduated with a Bachelor in Engineering degree from Stony Brook University in 2016. It was during his time at university that he became interested in computer science and finance. His curiosity led him to explore methods to use technology to enhance and improve the conventional way of finance.
Before Entering the Crypto World
At the beginning of his career, he worked for many reputed companies such as Consensys, Blockstack, and Siemens. At Siemens, he worked for aerospace and automobile industry clients, his job was to perform engineering simulations and design exploration. He also wrote Java macros as well as learned the UNIX operating system. However, after a year, the company laid him off.
It was a difficult phase of his life. During this period, a friend of his, Karl Froersh, introduced him to a crypto project on Reddit called “Let’s run on-chain decentralized exchanges the way we run prediction markets,” which was written by the founder of Ethereum Blockchain, Vitalik Buterin.
His friend told him that Ethereum lack a smart contract developer which motivated Hayden to learn JavaScript and Solidity. Further, following Floresch’s advice, he applied for $65,000 from the Ethereum Foundation, and his project Uniswap won the grant.
Creation of Uniswap
In 2018, he founded his own company with the aim of creating a decentralized exchange application that will enable users to buy and sell different digital assets securely, including cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Thus, Uniswap was created, and he switched its programming language from Solidity to Vyper, built for Ethereum smart contracts. The use of smart contracts and decentralization made Uniswap a secure platform, due to which it gained popularity in the cryptocurrency market.
He plans on continuing to develop and improve the platform by adding various types of assets that can be traded on the platform as well as new features to make it user-friendly.
