A new strategic partnership between Native, Avail, and Nuffle has been announced to power  – the Bitcoin Liquidity, Interoperability, and Security Stack. This partnership is set to address some of the most pressing challenges in the Bitcoin ecosystem by bringing together state-of-the-art solutions to strengthen security, scalability, seamless interoperability, and unified liquidity. The partnership seeks to provide a trust-minimized infrastructure that will create new opportunities for Bitcoin’s role in the broader blockchain space.

Empowering Scalable, Secure Bitcoin Rollups

The partnership focuses on building a scalable and secure environment for Bitcoin Rollups, leveraging Native’s Zero Trust Architecture, Avail’s Data Availability (Avail DA) and Avail Nexus services, and Nuffle’s Fast Finality Layer (NFFL) AVS. Together, this alliance aims to deliver:

  • Trust-minimized bridges for seamless interoperability.
  • Secure asset movement, powered by Native’s Zero Trust Architecture.
  • Scalable settlement and liquidity unification through Avail.
  • Fraud-proof verification and fast finality layer through Nuffle’s services

Challenges in Bitcoin’s Scaling Ecosystem

With the evolution of Bitcoin’s scaling solutions like Bitcoin Rollups, the ecosystem has seen a surge in capital efficiency and network versatility. However, this expansion also brings along critical challenges that, if left unaddressed, could hinder the broader adoption and success of these solutions.

Lack of Trust-Minimized Bridges

Many existing Bitcoin Layer 2 (L2) solutions depend on bridges that require users to place trust in custodians or intermediaries, which introduces significant security risks. This dynamic reduces investor confidence and dissuades major Bitcoin holders—including miners, institutions, and DeFi users—from participating.

Fragmented Liquidity Across L2s

With the emergence of multiple L2 solutions, liquidity is fragmented across different protocols, resulting in isolated pools with different token derivatives that are not easily composable. This lack of seamless interoperability limits the utility of Bitcoin’s liquidity, leading to a suboptimal user experience and constrained capital efficiency.

Why It Matters:

As reported by Cointelegraph, the term “Bitcoin L2” often misrepresents the reality of these solutions. “L2” for sidechains is simply a marketing tactic. L2 should inherit full security from L1. Today, most of Bitcoin L2s provide security deposit on L1 (Bitcoin), but Bitcoin can’t trustlessly arbitrage potential misbehavior. That would require Bitcoin to be able to validate ZK proofs (for ZK L2s) or validity proofs (for optimistic L2s). Neither is possible today due to limitations of the Bitcoin script.

The Solution: Native’s Zero Trust Architecture

Native is redefining the Bitcoin ecosystem with the Zero Trust Bitcoin Application Platform. This platform enables true Bitcoin programmability without the need for traditional bridges, wrappers, or multisig setups. By leveraging advanced 2PC-MPC cryptography, Native empowers users to access and control BTC, Runes, Ordinals, and more, all without relying on custodians or centralized trust points.

Native’s Zero Trust Architecture addresses the challenges of fragmented liquidity and insecure bridges by:

  • Enabling trust-minimized bridges powered by Zero Trust architecture.
  • Unifying liquidity across Bitcoin’s scaling solutions, creating a more cohesive and capital-efficient ecosystem.
  • Supporting Zero Trust staking and verification to elevate the security of Bitcoin Rollups to the next level.

Introducing BLISS: A Unified Infrastructure for Bitcoin Rollups

BLISS (Bitcoin Liquidity, Interoperability, and Security Stack) is Native’s flagship solution, designed to bring together scalable, secure, and composable infrastructure for Bitcoin Rollups. BLISS is powered by a hybrid approach that combines ZK-proofs and fraud proofs, making it easier for developers to build secure, interoperable Bitcoin applications with:

  • Secure & Seamless interoperability
  • Fast finality
  • Verifiable computation across chains

Partner Contributions: The Role of Avail and Nuffle

Avail: Enhancing Scalability and Settlement

BLISS networks keep scaling with Avail DA. Data availability guarantees are backed by KZG commitments and efficiently verified with data availability sampling in a modular, scalable architecture. Avail Nexus settles cross-chain transaction flows between ZK rollups in BLISS, enabling interoperability between smart contracts and assets.

Nuffle: Powering Fraud-Proof Verification and Fast Finality finality

Nuffle will serve as the fraud-proof settlement layer for Bitcoin optimistic roll-ups, ensuring rapid consensus and dispute resolution for Optimistic Rollups. Leveraging EigenLayer, Nuffle provides a highly secure multi-chain framework that enhances overall trust and decentralization. This layer is essential for ensuring that all transactions are executed correctly, even in the presence of malicious actors.

Unlocking Bitcoin Liquidity and Expanding DeFi

The combined strengths of Native, Avail, and Nuffle will create a secure and scalable foundation for Bitcoin DeFi, enabling:

  • Unified liquidity across L2s for a seamless user experience.
  • Interoperable financial products that can leverage Bitcoin’s vast liquidity.
  • New staking and yield-generation opportunities for Bitcoin holders.

This partnership not only addresses the interoperability and fragmentation in Bitcoin’s ecosystem but also unlocks new use cases for Bitcoin in DeFi, such as cross-chain lending, liquid staking, and yield generation.

The Future of Rollups in the Bitcoin Ecosystem

The partnership between Native, Avail, and Nuffle is a game-changer for Bitcoin’s ecosystem. By leveraging their unique strengths, the partnership sets a new benchmark for trust-minimized interoperability and integrates Bitcoin’s liquidity into the core of DeFi. This partnership will set new standards for trust-minimized interoperability and bring Bitcoin’s liquidity into the heart of DeFi, driving innovation and unlocking the full potential of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

About Avail

Avail is led by Polygon’s former co-founder Anurag Arjun and is building a unification layer to solve rollup fragmentation at scale. Avail addresses this from first principles solving blockchain scalability with Avail DA, a foundational DA layer that implements the same technology planned for Ethereum’s danksharding roadmap, including KZG Commitments and Data Availability Sampling (DAS). Avail Nexus addresses growing fragmentation concerns with permissionless interoperability, leveraging proof aggregation on Avail’s scalable DA layer. Avail’s security is then reinforced with multi-asset staking through Avail Fusion. Start your unification journey today at availproject.org.
