The recent conclusion of the Metaverse Expo at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan was a certified success among professionals seeking solutions that integrate the innovative Metaverse. With 46,177* visitors in attendance, the show floor was packed with novel technology and services set to revolutionise various industries and society as a whole.
Hosted at Tokyo Big Sight last July 3–5, 2024, and organised by RX Japan Ltd., the exhibition racked up an impressive exhibitor count of 833* brands across concurrent shows that showcased their leading XR and Metaverse solutions. 36 countries/regions participated, which include Uganda, Singapore, Estonia, Vietnam, Belgium, Mexico, Korea, Turkey, Finland, Romania, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and more.
The exploration of the metaverse as a new frontier succeeding the internet is as exciting as it is novel. The advancements it pushes can span across diverse sectors like education and learning, production and retail, management, marketing and advertising, communications, entertainment, health and medicine, human resources, and general affairs. With this new platform that aims to seamlessly connect people from various locations, the vision of developing curated virtual realities that ease the process and experience is becoming more imperative.
Hence, businesses see this as a defining moment. There must be a conscious decision to adapt and leverage new technologies and platforms like XR, MR, and the Metaverse to deliver products and services that go beyond borders. It ensures expansion and exposure to a bigger audience that is no longer just within specific locales.
And Metaverse Expo did not disappoint its visitors and exhibitors by offering them a ticket to the future through a plethora of tech solutions. Together with concurrent shows CONTENT Tokyo and XR Fair Tokyo, exhibitors brought their latest innovations for participants to explore and examine, and opportunities to network and secure partnerships right on the show floor were made possible. Just as the Metaverse’s principal aim at discovery was to connect more people despite challenges and geography, so too was the goal for the show’s second edition for all its stakeholders—a goal it accomplished astoundingly in the recent run.
XRSpace, a pioneer in the field of social reality development through XR and Metaverse, expressed their positive feedback on the expo. As an exhibitor, they successfully showcased their products and gathered user feedback on an application they were recently developing. On top of this, XRSpace also connected with numerous companies from Japan, China, and Poland, strengthened their current roster of business partners attending the show and met professionals in CG production and content creation. Needless to say, this triumph has pushed the brand to exhibit again at the next edition.
Metaverse Expo’s conference also discussed how the new platform will transform everyday life. With esteemed speakers like Osada, Shinko, the Representative Director and Secretary General of Metaverse Japan; Mitsuda, Hajime, General Manager of transcosmos inc.’s Metaverse Promotion Department; and CEO and Professor at the University of the Ryukyus, Tamaki, Emi. Seminar topics touched on how generative AI aids in the development of the metaverse, the use of the metaverse in corporate settings, and the advancements posed by the metaverse when adopted for industries like manufacturing.
Considering the current landscape, technology that transcends is forecasted (and is now seen) to be a definite game changer as it continuously evolves with new discoveries. With no intentions of stopping any time soon, the future may be approaching sooner than everyone has ascertained, and businesses must stay on top of this to avoid falling behind.
As such, the show management team announces that from the next edition, it will be renewed as “XR & Metaverse Fair Tokyo”, combining the 2 shows: XR Fair Tokyo and Metaverse Expo Tokyo. They invite stakeholders to be ahead of the curve by attending the next edition from November 20–22, 2024 at Makuhari Messe, Japan. Join industry leaders at the forefront of technology development in one of Japan’s premier exhibitions for XR/ metaverse building and innovation.
