About VTHO

VeThor Token (VTHO) is one of the two tokens used by the VeChainThor public blockchain. Originally launched in 2015, VeChain underwent a significant rebranding in 2018. While VeChain Token (VET) serves as the platform's native token, VeThor Token plays a crucial role in the blockchain's operations. VTHO is a VIP-180 Standard token designed to cover the costs of using the VeChainThor blockchain. Its primary function is to enable transactions and processes on the network, acting as the smart contract layer. Sunny Lu is the founder and CEO of VeChain. His career has spanned multiple industries. In 2009, he served as IT Manager for Bacardi China. The following year, he transitioned to the fashion industry, taking on the role of Chief Technical Officer at Louis Vuitton China. By 2014, he shifted back to IT, becoming the Chief Information Officer for the company's Chinese division. In 2015, Sunny Lu founded VeChain. Initially, the company operated as a subsidiary of Bitse, a major player in China’s blockchain sector. Later, VeChain became an independent entity. In 2018, the company underwent a rebranding, leading to the development of the VeChainThor blockchain and the VeThor token. **VeThor Token (VTHO) Overview** VeThor Token (VTHO) operates as a VIP-180 Standard token on the VeChainThor blockchain. While VeChain Token (VET) serves as the primary value-transfer asset, VTHO plays a critical role in powering transactions and smart contracts. The dual-token system enables users to engage with both tokens, offering flexibility in participation. The VeChainThor blockchain is designed for efficiency, featuring high processing speeds and an open-source framework that encourages developer collaboration. Its meta-transaction capabilities support multi-party payments and complex transaction structures, making it adaptable for enterprise use cases. A key advantage of the VeChainThor network is its dual-token model. Transactions and smart contract executions rely on VTHO, which operates independently of VET’s market value. This separation ensures stable functionality regardless of market fluctuations. For more details on smart contracts, refer to [DroomDroom's glossary](https://droomdroom.com/glossary/smart-contract). *(Note: Links and references have been adjusted for neutrality and evergreen content.)* The VTHO token is directly linked to the VET token on the VeChainThor blockchain. Transactions on the network require VTHO, which is generated automatically—specifically, 0.00000005 VTHO is produced per VET per block. The total supply of VET is capped at 86,712,634,466 tokens, with approximately 74% (around 64,315,576,989 VET) currently in circulation. In contrast, the supply of VTHO is notably lower at 31,946,532,533 tokens. This structure ensures that VTHO is continuously generated to support transactions while maintaining a distinct supply mechanism from VET. The VeChainThor network uses a proof-of-authority (PoA) consensus mechanism, enabling faster transaction validation. While its blockchain is inspired by the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and incorporates key concepts from Ethereum, VeChainThor operates as an independent blockchain rather than being built on Ethereum. Under the PoA system, transactions are validated by Authority Masternodes (AMs), which are selected by the VeChain Foundation. These validators must verify their identity and establish their reputation before being approved. Both VET and VTHO tokens follow the ERC-20 standard, making them compatible with a wide range of cryptocurrency wallets, including hot and cold storage options. *(Note: Links to external sources have been removed to maintain an evergreen format.)* Binance leads in VTHO/USD trading volume with $1,016,992, followed by MXC.COM at $986,646 and Bitvavo at $365,399.
